The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University is one of the finest teaching and research institutions in the nation. Our outstanding faculty have made - and continue to make - fundamental discoveries into the causes and treatment of sight-threatening diseases such as glaucoma, cataract and retinal degeneration. These advances have only been possible with the aid of generous charitable contributions from individuals in the community. By making a financial donation to the Department, these individuals are playing a critical role in the fight against blindness.
Charitable gifts to the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences can take many forms. Often they represent bequests of money or property. Sometimes they are outright gifts. Funds can be used for general purposes or dedicated to specific projects or pieces of equipment. Some gifts, such as endowments, exist in perpetuity.
Our development office will be happy to discuss options and work with potential benefactors to structure their donations according to their desires. All gifts are tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law.
