Thank you for expressing an interest in our Ophthalmology Residency Training Program.
This year, as in the past, we are only accepting standard applications from the Central Application Service. Please visit the website of the Ophthalmology Matching Program for instructions on applying to our program.

Our deadline to receive your application from the Central Applications Service is October 15. We suggest you have your completed application to CAS by September 30 as applications received by us after October will not be considered for the residency program. Although we do not require supplementals to the CAS application, you are welcome to send a CV, additional recommendation letters or published articles to the attention of Mary Hitt, Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, 660 South Euclid, Campus Box 8096, St. Louis, Missouri, 63110.

Applicants selected for personal interviews with members of the Selection Committee are contacted first by email then followed up with a letter containing directions and hotel information. Interview will be offered on the following dates only:

Wednesday, November 19, 2008
Tuesday, December 2, 2008
Friday, December 5, 2008

Applicants must meet the following requirements by the residency appointment date:

  1. Graduation from a Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) - accredited medical school in the United States or Canada.
  2. Satisfactory completion of an approved transitional or internship in medicine.
  3. Graduates of foreign medical schools with a valid ECFMG certificate may be considered for residency appointments. J1 visas only.
  4. USMLE Steps 1 and 2. Step 3 may be completed during the first year of residency.
