Welcome to the Kefalov lab! We are interested in understanding the mechanisms that determine and regulate the physiological properties of vertebrate rod and cone photoreceptor cells. Our technique of choice is single cell "suction-pipet" recordings from individual photoreceptors. We use normal and genetically modified animals to investigate the phototransduction properties of these cells.
