The WashU Medicine Free Eye Service is a student-run mobile eye clinic dedicated to expanding access to quality eye care for underserved communities in St. Louis. Founded by medical students Isa Gomes (M3), Selam Zenebe-Gete (M2), and Jacob Strelnikov (M4), with the support of faculty advisor Erin Sieck,MD, the clinic provides free vision screenings, eye exams, and referrals for further care when needed.

Our mission

  1. Provide free eye care and education to medically underserved populations in the St. Louis metro area.
  2. Understand the eye health needs of medically underserved communities in St. Louis.
  3. Investigate and report on effective methods to start a medical student-run eye clinic.

Founded in 2022 by passionate WashU Medicine physicians and medical students, the WashU Medicine Free Eye Service (WUFES) clinic offers free eye health education and vision screening services for uninsured and underinsured patients.

Our services

  • Free Vision Screening at our partnering locations.
  • We offer reading glasses to those with nearsightedness.
  • Help connect you to partnered community organizations and clinics for further comprehensive care.

Clinic schedule

We offer vision screening services on select Friday afternoons at alternating locations. Please see the upcoming dates listed below. No appointment is needed; screenings are available on a walk-in basis.
