Thank you for your interest in our ophthalmology residency training program. Each year, we receive over 600 applications for our five positions with a joint internal medicine internship. For positions beginning in July 2024, the deadline for applications is September 3, 2023. Each application is individually evaluated by our review committee in a holistic fashion in our endeavor to recruit and train a diverse and outstanding group of future ophthalmology residents.
Please apply directly through the SF Match website. No supplemental materials are required beyond what is submitted through SF Match.
The ophthalmology residency interview season will be unique this year as all interviews will be virtual, including ours. The interview day will consist of a hybrid of several interviews as well as opportunities to interact with residents and ask questions.
Applicants must meet the following requirements prior to the residency appointment date:
- Graduation from a Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME)-accredited medical school in the United States or Canada
- Graduates of foreign medical schools with a valid ECFMG certificates may be considered for residency appointments only with a J-1 Visa
- USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3
