Dr. Cecilia Lee, was the 33rd Annual Distinguished Alumnus Award Recipient and delivered a captivating presentation tilted, “Connecting the New Dots using Big Data in Ophthalmology.” Dr. Lee, a distinguished Professor holding the Klorfine Family Endowed Chair and serving as Director of Clinical Research at the University of Washington, shared invaluable insights into the transformative potential of big data in ophthalmic research and patient care. Her expertise illuminated innovative approaches to leveraging data analytics for better understanding, diagnosing, and treating ophthalmic conditions.

In addition to Dr. Lee’s enlightening keynote, the Spring Update featured presentations from several other esteemed speakers. Resident Research

As the day progressed, participants had the privilege of listening to resident research presentations from Gregory Bligard, MD, PhD, Howard Chen, MD, Natalia Morales, MD, Mary-Grace Reeves, MD, and Sharon Sabapathypillai, MD. Subsequently, attendees cast their votes for their favorite research projects. Notably, Sharon Sabapathypillai, MD, was honored with the prestigious Rosenbaum Research Award for her outstanding presentation titled, “Evaluating at-risk driving behaviors using in-car telemetry in older drivers with varying glaucoma severity.”
