After an incredible journey in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Andrew Huang, MD, MPH, is bidding farewell to Washington University, embracing a thoroughly deserved retirement! Since 2007, he has served as a Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, leaving an indelible mark on our institution and the broader field.

Dr. Huang’s research has been nothing short of groundbreaking, with interests spanning ocular surface stem cell biology, amyloid protein formation in corneal dystrophies, gene therapy for TGFBI-related corneal dystrophies, and the pathogenesis of Meibomian gland dysfunctions. His contributions have significantly advanced our understanding and treatment of various ocular conditions, impacting countless lives.

After an incredible career spanning decades, it’s time to bid farewell to our esteemed colleague, Dr. Anthony J. Lubniewski! Dr. Lubniewski’s journey with us began with us during his residency and cornea fellowship, after which he became a Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1990.

Dr. Lubniewski’s dedication to patient care and excellence in teaching have been nothing short of exemplary, earning him the prestigious Ophthalmology Residents’ Teacher of the Year award multiple times. Additionally, his outstanding contributions were recognized with the WashU Ophthalmology Distinguished Alumni Award in 2023. His legacy of mentorship and expertise has left an indelible mark on our institution and countless aspiring ophthalmologists.
