Nearly 1,000 attendees enjoyed creative costumes, candy and community at this year’s event
The WashU Medicine John F. Hardesty, MD Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences joined other departments at the St. Louis Children’s Specialized Care Center (CSCC) this past weekend for a successful Trunk or Treat event! Despite strong winds, the turnout was outstanding — with an estimated 965 attendees enjoying the festive afternoon of costumes, candy and camaraderie.
Departments across St. Louis Children’s Hospital and WashU Medicine showcased their creativity by decorating themed trunks and handing out treats to families and children from across the community. Attendees voted for their favorite displays, resulting in some close and exciting competition:
🥇 1st Place: Moana (Multi-Specialty)

🥈 2nd Place: Inside Out (Neurology)

🥉 3rd Place: Candyland (Children’s Direct)

The event brought together faculty, staff and community members for a lighthearted celebration that emphasized teamwork, connection and family fun. Events like Trunk or Treat continue to strengthen WashU Medicine’s commitment to community engagement and patient-centered care beyond the clinic.
