The highly anticipated open house of the new shared multidisciplinary surgical simulation lab took place on September 18th, 2024, offering an exclusive first look at the future of surgical innovation.
“The recently launched Multidisciplinary Surgical Simulation Lab is enhancing our training capabilities significantly. Serving ophthalmology, otolaryngology, and neurosurgery, this facility is equipped with advanced technology and resources. It provides an optimal environment for our medical students, residents, and faculty to refine their skills in state-of-the-art procedures. This investment reinforces our commitment to excellence in surgical education and ensures our institution remains at the forefront of medical training.”

Located on the 6th floor of the FLTC, the new Multidisciplinary Surgical Simulation Lab spans just over 6,200 square feet and is about 30% larger than the current lab in the McMillan building. The number of individual workstations has increased from 14 to 16. However, the most significant change is the addition of an open workspace equipped with four ceiling-mounted operating room lights and surgical microscopes, designed to accommodate larger procedures.
