Ophthalmology Residents Honored with 2025 Friend of the ED Award

Dr. Steven Obiefuna and Dr. Yi-hsien Yeh accept the 2025 Friend of the ED Award on behalf of the Ophthalmology residency program.

We are excited to share some fantastic news: the Department of Ophthalmology residents have been named the 2025 recipients of the Friend of the ED Award!

Each year, Emergency Medicine (EM) residents vote on the specialty that has gone above and beyond in supporting their training. This award recognizes excellence in collaboration, education, and clinical partnership—and this year, our Ophthalmology residents stood out.

The Friend of the ED Award is a meaningful expression of appreciation, highlighting those who contribute significantly to the educational, clinical, and research mission of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. By showing up as outstanding colleagues and investing in cross-specialty learning, Ophthalmology residents have made a lasting impact.

The award was presented during the Resident Conference on Monday, June 17.

Congratulations to our Ophthalmology residents for this well-deserved honor—and thank you for continuing to embody the spirit of teamwork, excellence, and academic curiosity.
