The Heed Ophthalmic Foundation was formally established on May 29, 1946 and the first two fellows were appointed in 1947. The Heed Ophthalmic Foundation has appointed more than 1,100 Heed Fellows and provided over $11 million dollars in support of their postgraduate training.
