Favorite memory of Medical School?
I look back on my preclinical years rather fondly. In such an abrupt period of change with a new school, lots of new material, and all during Covid-19, we really made great friendships that supported us through all those challenges and even our current ones in residency.
Favorite memory of your intern residency year?
As cliché as it sounds, becoming close with my co-residents. WashU has some secret formula for selecting residents because I could not imagine a better group to go through residency with.
Why did you choose Ophthalmology?
I was drawn to the precision of the ophthalmic exam and the procedures in and out of the OR, and then, as I learned more, I realized that the field’s rapid advances in imaging and surgical technology also aligned perfectly with my interest in innovation.
Why did you choose WashU Medicine?
The department supported me tremendously as a medical student. I saw how deeply it cared for its residents and how well prepared they were after training. It truly felt like a family here at WashU that did everything to help you succeed.
What are you most looking forward to during your residency?
The procedures! Becoming a surgeon is a lifelong journey, and I am excited to learn from my co-residents and faculty while seeing the meaningful difference ophthalmologists make in patients’ lives.
