WashU Medicine Hosts LASIK CE Dinner to Advance Collaborative Eye Care

The WashU Medicine John F. Hardesty, MD Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences LASIK Surgery Center recently hosted its Spring 2026 LASIK Continuing Education Dinner, bringing together optometrists and ophthalmologists for an evening focused on advancing refractive care. Held April 28, the event featured expert-led discussions on the latest techniques and clinical decision-making in LASIK, reinforcing the department’s commitment to education that directly enhances patient outcomes.

Led by Stephen Wexler, MD, and Rithwick Rajagopal, MD, PhD, the program provided attendees with valuable, practice-ready insights while offering COPE-accredited continuing education credits. Through a combination of clinical updates and peer engagement, the event emphasized collaboration between referring providers and surgical specialists—an essential component of delivering seamless, high-quality vision care. These connections help ensure patients receive the most appropriate and personalized treatment options.

“Strong collaboration between optometrists and surgeons is essential to achieving the best outcomes in refractive surgery. Educational events like this allow us to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and ultimately provide better care for our patients,” said Stephen Wexler, MD.
